One is nothing but a feather caught in a breeze.The next moment , it soars higher up the sky or falls limp on the ground is unaccounted for , a metamorphic description of the hand of destiny and the magical element "luck" in every human life. Throwing light along the same line is Forrest Gump , a 1994 drama film also an adaptation of the 1986 novel of the same name by Groom. The movie essentially contradicts some of clichéd notions of life.So we say opportunities never knock at your door, well not for the extremely fortunate Forrest. Life was a cake walk where his accomplishments advances from a football star to war hero to national celebrity to shrimp boat captian. Due to his nativity and low intelligence Forrest remains largely unaware of the significance and consequences of his incidental involvement in the historic events of 20th century. This includes Vietnam War , the Watergate scandal , the Civil Rights and Anti war protest movements and the computer revolution. In a way this movie is also a look at a period of American history through the eyes of a gentle soul who lacks cynic but simply accept things for what they are. Through the miracle of visual effects Forrest meets his fair share of famous people , George Wallas , Elvis Priestly , presidents Kennedy , Nixon and John Lennon . While mixing the real footage of these notables with new images featuring Tom Hanks is not a seemless process. Forrest , dipping and weaving through history is also said to have inspired the expressions , “ Have a nice day” and “Shit Hapends “ , usage still omnipresent in our day to day vocabulary. Directed by Robert Zemeckist , it is still one among the most sought after movies even a decade after its release. Out of the 13 academy awards , it swept away whopping 6 including Best picture , Best actor , Best director and Best visual effects.
