Visiting Tarkarli

Tarkarli is a great place to visit. Below you can find the details about this tourist spot.

Soft, talcum white sands, azure blue waters and a seemingly never ending beach with infinite possibilities – Tarkarli has received a sea of compliments. MTDC calls it the Greece of the East. And the pleasantly surprised traveler discovers a world of his dreams.

Situated at 6 kms south of Malvan, along the Konkan Coast and 546 kms away from Mumbai, Tarkarli is a small village on the coast of Maharashtra. Considered the finest and cleanest beach in the State, Tarkarli is an hour’s drive down from Kudal, and a short drive from Malvan.

The beach waters are safe to wade in, but MTDC cautions against swimming, since undercurrents are strong and can suck you in. However a stroll hugging and lapping waves as the sun melts into the sea and its rays creating an orange glow on the white sands, is a mesmerizing experience.

Equally magical is the sea food, freshly prepared with the catch of the day. Wholesome, homely, authentic and hot – there is a delectable choice at Tarkarli. Visit Saiba which, in addition to a rich variety of seafood gives you a fetchingly delicious view of the sea. Other eateries include Bamboo, Ruchira and Chitanya which though they have a limited spread, are mouthwateringly healthy. You will not find better and cheaper Seer (Surmal), Pomfret (Paplet), Macherel (Bangra), Crab (Khekra) and prawns than in Tarkarli.

The MTDC Resort offers 20 lovely cottages at the beach, and has the best scenic spots in the midst of a casuarinas grove. Hammocks and beach umbrellas are strewn lazily and complete the beautiful picture of an idyllic, laid back holiday with the sun, sand, sea, solitude and a good book for company.
