Google search produces carbon dioxide
Do you know? Google search produces carbon dioxide! Calculate how many times you search websites in Google search engine daily. If you search two times on Google search engine they produce 15g of co2.That means one time tea boiling cattle produces same amount of carbon dioxide. These emissions are caused both by the electricity required user computer and sand their request to servers around the world. This is a small amount but it causes big environmental effect.
According to Gartner, an American research farm, IT now causes two percentage of global carbon dioxide emission .Dr Alex wissner-gross,a physicist from Harvard university who is leading research into two subject ,has estimated that browsing a basic website generates about 0.2g for every second it is viewed. Website with complex video can be responsible for upto0.2g per second, He believes.
On his website, co2.com, Dr wissner-gross wrote: “websites are provided by servers and are viewed by visitors ‘Computers that are connected via network
“These servers, clients and networks are required electricity in order to run, electricity that is largely generated by burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. When fossil fuel born, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere, which contribute to climate change.
Dr wissner-gross believes that googols unique search stricter-which sees its and searches to multiple servers around the world and give which ever responsible for is returned quickest-cause its searches to produce more emission then some other sites.
“Google is very efficient but their primary concern is to make searches fast and that means that have a lot of extra capacity. So they operate huge data centers around the world that consume a great deal of power. A Google search has a definite envirmental impact.
I read this article on Indian express 19 January 2009 edition. I think all of the people (who use computer and internet) knew this topic. Or his contribution in envirmental effect. This is look like very small but great envirmental effect
