Manimahesh tour

The Hindu pilgrimage Manimahesh is also known as Manikailash. Devadidev Shiva is worshipped at the bottom of the Kailash peak, it is situated in the Chamba valley of Himachal pradesh, Lord Shiva is worshipped here at the side of the green lake. There are many stories about Manimahesh. It is said that the Shiva was leaved Amarnath for the torchering of other religions and take shelter in Manimahesh. But suddenly a 'Gaddi' shepherd discover the hidden residence of Shiva. He saw Lord Mahadev when he want to something ti Him, Shiva fulfill his wish to gave him 1000 sheeps but a condition gave him, not to tell about His hidden home any one. Once a Yogi came to know about the 'Gaddi' who knows the Shivas home by yoga. He caught Gaddi and want to know the secret way to reach God. but Gaddi did not agree to tell. Yogi request him frequently to tell, then Gaddi was agreed to take him away towards the way of Manimahesh. But Shiva was very angry and they were turned into stone in Manimahesh for ever. And that day People used to take a dip in holy lake on Radhashtmi and Krishan janamashtami every year.
From pathankot or Chakkibank, crossing 122km way, Chambal city is situated at the bank of the river Irabati, Chamba is a ancient historical capital. From history we know that in the 10th century A.D.the king Sahil varma tranfer his kingdom from Brhmapur to chamba. He built his capital here. He named it chamba from his daughter name champa. The heart centre of chamba is chaugan - a big green feild which is surrounded by hills. The river Irabati is flowing by the side of chamba. Chamba is called a temple city. The chamunda temple is made by handicraft wood which is on the top of the hill. Lakshmi Narayan temple and Hariroy temple is suated at besides of chaugan.
From chamba to varmor is 66km. This way is very narrow. At the bottom of the route Irabati is flowing on overcomming the bolders. After leaving Irabati Buddal will goes with you and at last you reach bharmour. Bharmour is called the switzerland of India. There are many apple trees on the blue-greenish hills. and have a churashi shivas chaurashia's temple. Tourists are bathe here then give their puja and then ready to journey for manimahesh.
In earlier days people goes to manimahesh from bharmour by walking. Now the route is developed and extened for 18 km,hadsar. Bus and car is passing through the way. The easiest route to the sacred lake is from Chamba. There are buses from Chamba to Bharmour and jeeps from Bharmour to Hadsar. From Hadsar, the pilgrims have to trek 13 kilometers to Manimahesh. Like Amarnath chhari yatra has come from the charpatnath mandir of chamba.The official yatra commences with the start of ‘Chhari’ from the Lakshaminarayan Temple in Chamba town. In Bharmour they gave their puja and after then they reached manimahesh. In August and September the road is slipery due to rain. You should take hot tea from chati or langar. you should enjoy the beauty of the nature.see the beauty of Hadsar which is far below the road look like a drawing scenary by a painter. You will across the river by small wooden bridge. A forest of Bhuj, pine and at the end of forest you will see a big field.This is called Dhancho glacier. There are many tent govt. and non-govt.here and you should spend a night here.
Manimahesh lake is 9 km from here. Manimahesh is a high altitude lake which height is more than 4000 metre. This route is marked with steep ascent, which has to be inevitably trekked. it is a tough journey. after crossing a ice pach of 20-25 ft you should go slowly, then you see Gaurikundu. At the side of the road a fresh water source. Bands of pilgrims wend their way up the arduous track to bathe in the icy lake and to worship at the little temple there. On the way to Manimahesh, there are the twin ponds of Shiva Krotri and Gaurikund. Women take dip in Gaurikund and men in Shiva Krotri. It is believed that Parvati and Lord Shiva bathe in these ponds. you stood spellbound staring in silence at Nature’s own canvas. This is what makes it worth enduring the pain. Most of people spend night at Gaurikundu after or before visit manimahesh because manimahesh's height is 14,000ft, so that avoiding cold they stay at gaurikund. from here to 5 km road is very tough and dangerous. At the end of the way a crystal green-black water lake where you will see a shadow of the peak of manimahesh. At the side of the lake there are many colouful tents and the holy flags denoting the sacred site, At the east side of the lake is manimahes kailash. The scenic lake attracts thousands of pilgrims every year. The devotees take a dip in the lake's icy waters and pray to Mount Kailash, which is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. At the other side of the lake there is a Trishul and flag is there. Everyone gave puja to Devadidev here. There is no temple and no statue here. only for fair Pilgrims take a dip in the lake, then pray to Chaumukha, a marble Shivaling, A rock in the shape of a Shivaling, located on the Kailash Mountain, is worshipped as the manifestation of Shiva.Dry fruits,murki and flowers are used to worship of Shiva. The semi-nomadic, pastoral Gaddi tribespeople traditionally offer goat sacrifices to Shiva. Locals take newborn sons for tonsuring ceremonies at the lake. Walking to the way of the Manimahesh Lake is a wonderful experience. The Manimahesh Lake is believed to be one of the abode of Lord Shiva as per the Hindu mythologies. The wonderful route not only enthuse the pilgrims but also excites the adventure lovers and tourists.
