Vanapalli Pallalamma temple story
|
In East Godavari and west Godavari Districts we can see many people named as ‘Pallalamma’ or ‘Pallam Raju’. The Only reason for this is, the people here believe and worship The Goddess ‘Pallalamma Ammavaru’.
‘Vanapalli’ is a village which is very near to ‘Kothapeta’, which in turn placed nearly 70 km From Kakinada, Kakinada is the head quarters of East Godavari Districts in Andhra Pradesh.
There were few stories which were believed by the people living here about the Goddess.
One day Goddess ‘Pallalamma’ came into the dream of Pithapuram Maharaja and Told the details of the place where she located and blessed him with wealth and Health. As per the dream Pithapuram Maharaja went to the place and surpicingly found the ‘Pallalamma Ammavaru’. Then Maharaja has donated some land to ‘Pallalamma’. From that time onwards people started worshipping Goddess ‘Pallalamma’.
The People here will also say that at the time of digging the main canal from Rajahmundry to Kundaleswaram (Via) Vanapalli, Sir Arthur Cotton the chief engineer who has constructed ‘Dhavaleswaram Baraze’, thought that the Temple of Goddess ‘Pallalamma’ will obstruct the way of Canal and wanted to demolish it. At this time Sri Pallalamma Ammavaru, came into the dream of Sir Arthur Cotton, and told him that her temple will not obstruct the way of canal, by giving respect to Goddess ‘Pallalamma Ammavaru’ he continued digging the canal without demolishing it.
If you observe carefully there will be a Jackal under the feet of Sri ‘Pallalamma Ammavaru’. People will say there is a small and interesting story behind this.
One day Sri ‘Pallalamma Ammavaru’ came into the dream of a ‘Poojari’( The one who adores), and Told him about the location where she was placed, She also told him to clean the surrounding area where her statue is placed and worship her daily so that she will bless him.
Next day Early in the morning The ‘Poojari’ went to the location which was told by Sri ‘Pallalamma Ammavaru’ in his dream. He found the beautiful Statue of Sri ‘Pallalamma Ammavaru’ there and felt very happy because his dream came into reality.
Since this happened Very long back, at that time the area is a forest where now the ‘Vanapalli’ Village exists.
The ‘Poojari’ chopped some nearby trees, cleaned some area around the Statue sothat its easy for him and also other people to Visit and Pray the Goddess conveniently.
Next day Morning when ‘Poojari’ came to worship Goddess ‘Pallalamma’, he found the place smells bad with the Shitt of a jackal. He cleaned it up, took bath and worshipped the Goddess for that day. Next day Morning he come again and found that again the place was spoiled by Shitt of the jackal. He patiently cleaned it, took bath and worshipped the Goddess.
This was repeating every day. One day ‘Poojari’ got vexed and asked the Goddess, that why she kept quite when the jackal is spoiling the place daily. The statue not replied, but when he went home and slept he got a dream, in which Goddess ‘Pallalamma Ammavaru’ came and said that, ‘When time comes she will handle the problem, until then please be patient’.
From then onwards The ‘Poojari’ worshipping the goddess Everyday patiently by cleaning what ever spoiling done by the Jackal.
After some days One day Goddess ‘Pallalamma’ came into the dream of ‘poojari’ again and said that, ‘tomorrow when you come to worship me, bring two bags of lemons and drop them on the floor before me when you are leaving’.
On the next day the ‘poojari’ went with two bags of lemons, he prayed the Goddess well, and before leaving he poured the two bags of lemons on to the floor before the Statue, went home and slept. again he got the dream in which Goddess saying him that ‘You asked me to handle the problem of jackal’ and I replied you that ‘For every thing time should come, Today its time for jackal to end it up, from tomorrow on wards you will never face problem due to the jackal ’, by saying this Goddess disappeared in the dream.
Next day when he went he saw that the Jackal under the feet of Sri ‘Pallalamma Statue’.
In his dream he visualized that, like every day the Jackal came to spoil the place during the night. But when the Jackal placed its legs on lemons which were poured in front of the statue it was slipped and went up to the statue. As soon as Jackal came nearer to the statue by slipping, the Goddess placed her leg on the Jackal and pressed it by holding.
So this story tells about how time will influence us. For every thing time should come. May be this is the time for you to know about this story. So when time permits please visit the temple and have the blessings of Goddess ‘Pallalamma’
