Here are the most important two characteristics of human beings:-
Duty -
It is easy to spell the word "Duty" and say a short simple word like that. To the men of serious mood it, however, means a lot. It touches both the life of the body and the life of the mind at various levels. It is a great force in the life of the individual as also in that of a nation. People are eager to demand rights of their government, society and family. But they forget that it is reciprocal and there can be no right without a duty. Duty well done brings peace and happiness in the society; Sometimes duty is stern indeed in nature. Human beings are the nurslings of society. They get enough care and love from the society and family. Alone he his helpless. He owes his food, dress and shelter to others. It is the society that gives him status and offers him a living. People must try to repay at least a part of it through their duties. People of each and every profession have their duties. The doctors have their duties to the suffering patients, the teachers to the students and the politicians to the people and also to the nation as a whole. It is not always easy to perform one’s duty. But a dutiful person does not care to dedicate his life at the call of duty. No obstacle or hardship can halt his spirit. To rise in protest against injustice is also the duty of a man. A dutiful person gets honor and respect from everywhere.

Discipline -
All the beauty and sweetness of nature that we see is nothing but discipline. It is the rhythm of life. In the primitive days man carried on a beastly life in the jungles. But soon order followed as life moved on from barbarism to civilization. Thus society made certain rules to control the activities of its member. Man began to lead a disciplined life in the society. The very word ‘discipline’ inspires awe and reverence. It touches life at many levels. It is a great force both in the life of the individual and that of the nation. Discipline is the training of the mind and character. Its essence is reverence and implicit obedience to the orders of superiors. It inculcates in one the virtues of a discipline. Want of discipline brings disorders everywhere. So for progress and survival of a society importance of discipline cannot be denied. Like charity, home is the nursery of discipline. If the elder members obey their superiors- young members cannot but earn this good habit. Discipline is of primary importance in corporate life. Here respect for a social coed or the law of the land can create a healthy environment for development, In academic life discipline is indispensable. Students from the very beginning of their life should learn to follow the rules of their institutions. In the playground or in the battlefield discipline plays a major role. Indiscipline Army is mobs that are of no use in any warfare. So, discipline only can show us the path of progress and strength.
