Transfer Order (TO) Posting in SAP using LT06

What is LT06?
In SAP WM, all transactions done in other modules like MM, SD, PP etc requires corresponding transfers orders/quants to reflect data in WM.
LT06 is one such transaction. It posts Transfer order in SAP WM for material document posted in SAP in other modules.
Only posting material document in MM for warehouse managed storage location is not enough. We need to further do LT06 to transfer the stock from/to interim storage type from/to actual storage type in SAP WM.
Whether LT06 screen automatic or manual in SAP WM
When you post material document, LT06 screen comes automatically following that. This is controlled in transaction OMKX. For given warehouse, reference movement type, movement indicator (optional), special stock indicator, you can control whether Transfer order creation screen will appear automatically or not.
Example for warehouse AAA,. Movement type 561, for non-special stock, you want Transfer order screen to appear immediately after material document is posted (LT06). Then here you will mention in OMKX as above.
For warehouse AAA. Movement type 561, special stock indicator K , you want Transfer order screen should not appear automatically(LT06), then put indicator for Transfer order creation as that.
In this case, you will have manually go to LT06 and create Transfer order for material document posted.
Determining whether placement or stock removal screen
Stock removal screen If movement type is related to stock removal, on Transfer order creation screen, To storage type and bin should be populated. Because stock will be posted to that interim storage type and bin.
Stock placement screen : If movement type is related to stock placement, on Transfer order creation screen, From storage type and bin should be populated. Because stock will be posted from interim storage type.
Interim storage type is link between SAP WM and other SAP modules. It is kind of virtual storage type.
So SAP has given option to maintain screen control for Transfer order creation depending on movement type.
So if you are posting movement type 561, screen control would be 1 that means it is stock placement screen.
Determining automatically source or destination storage type and bin in LT06
When we do LT06, source storage type or destination storage type is automatically populated depending on screen control (we discussed above).
This defaulted Interim storage type is mentioned in each movement type under following configuration path in SAP
IMG-Logistics Execution-Warehouse management- Activities-Transfers-Define movement types.
Say for example for movement type 561, interim storage type and bin is 998 INIT. INV, and screen control is 1.
So when LT06 is done for 561 material document posted, 998 INIT. INV would be defaulted as source storage type in transaction.
Storage bin can also be dynamic bin in movement type in SAP WM.
