UNIT II Image Processing: Basic Image fundamentals, Image data types, image file formats (GIF, BMP, TIFF, JPEG, PCX , etc), Image acquisition, storage processing, Communication, and display, Image enhancement: Enhancement by point processing, Spatial filtering, Color image processing. Image compression : Types of compression: lossy & loss less, symmetrical & asymmetrical, intraframe & interframe Hybrid, Loss less: RLE, Shannon- Fano algorithm, Arithmetic coding. Lossy : Vector quantization, fractal compression technique, transform coding, psycho-analysis, interframe correlation. Hybrid: JPEG-DCT 10 Hours
