There is good news for parents of school going children in Bangalore who worry about their child's safety.
“I worry about children who walk on roads without their parents. It’s very dangerous,” says a parent Coreen Fareed.
But parents like Fareed, can soon put their fears behind them. The Karnataka government is making schools responsible for students' safety from the moment they get off their buses till they go home.
Days after a kindergarten student fell off the balcony of her school, the education department has issued a circular making safety norms more stringent. Schools now have to put in place a series of measures that'll make the environment better for kids.
As per new rules, teachers or security guards should help children cross the road. Other rules include:
* Kindergarten, Class I and Class II have be on the ground floor.
* If they are on higher floors, teachers should ensure children are not pushed around on staircases and balconies.
* Autos and vans ferrying children must not be overloaded.
* Teachers must monitor children at playgrounds.
* They should ensure safe transport if school is closed before time.
“Normally, schools are taking care of children in their premises but we're trying to tell them the responsibility starts a little earlier,” says Commissioner for Public Instruction, G Kumar Naik.
Department officials will be inspecting schools by the end of the month to ensure these norms are being followed.

The parents of the school going children in Bangalore who worry about their child's safety still need to worry because the rule is yet not into force.
There are plenty of schools in Bangalore who are not even known about such an implementation from the Government.
Even today the buses are so crowded that the children have a massive experience travelling daily to far away places.
Autos and vans are ofcourse over crowded.
Such is the situation of children safety at Bangalore now.
If such a thing comes true., it would really be good.
Thanks & Best regards, Mala.
