Install g2ipmsg in Ubuntu Linux easily

g2ipmsg for ubuntu

g2ipmsg iS a type of ipmessenger with which everyone in the same network ip address can send files, send meesages to any system connected in that network. All Ubuntu versions like intrepid, jaunty and linux machines having linux operating systems like red hat linux, fedora linux etc can have this easily installed.

Package Dependencies

Following packages must be installed before installing g2ipmsg.
gettext
libgnomeui-dev
libpanel-applet2-dev
gnome-network-admin

In Ubuntu linux installing is very easy with linux commands rather than working in red hat linux. Except ubuntu one has to log in as root in order to install any software. But in ubuntu it is easy by using the sudo command. The above said packages can be downloaded from ubuntu linux server and installed witht he following command.

Steps to install g2ipmsg in Ubuntu

sudo apt-get install gettext libgnomeui-dev libpanel-applet2-dev gnome-network-admin

Now g2ipmsg should be downloaded from net. g2ipmsg download for ubuntu linux

The downloaded package will be in tar and it should be extracted. Follow the steps to install g2ipmsg in ubuntu or any linux machine.

tar xzvf g2ipmsg-0.9.6.tar.gz
cd g2ipmsg-0.9.6
sudo ./configure
sudo make
sudo make install

After this ipmessenger will be install in /usr/local/bin or /usr/bin folder.

Run the following command to launch it
sudo /usr/bin/g2ipmsg
Dont consider the warnings if you come across any.
