The Bioinformatics Section at CCS Haryana Agricultural
University, Hisar is operational in a separate and newly
renovated facility in the College of Basic Sciences &
Humanities. It has a Linux Cluster, two Servers, 50 Dual
Core Pentium IV PCs, Multimedia Projectors etc.
In 2006, the Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi
funded the establishment of Bioinformatics Facility (BIF). A
state-of-art facility has been developed for teaching and
research with all modern infrastructure. Dedicated high
speed internet connectivity is operational in the Section.
Aim of Workshop
• To highlight the application of Bioinformatics in
plant sciences.
• To familiarize the participants about the usage of
biological databases and sequence analysis tools.
• To expose the students to some basic wet-lab
biology experiments.
Plan of Workshop
The workshop will include lectures by experts in the field
along with demonstrations and hands on sessions on the
following topics.
• Biological databases
• Sequence analysis including alignment
• Phylogenetic analysis using Phylip and PAUP
• Wet lab experiments for Bioinformatics students
(Demos and/or Hands-on).
Level of Participants
Students at Masters level working in the field of biological
sciences, with fundamental knowledge of computer usage.

Humanities, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar -
125004.

Accommodation would be arranged on prior request In
University Guest House on first come first serve basis.
