Q QUEST 2008:

Q Quest '08, The Ninth Annual National conference on Quality Management is organized by Anna University, AU TVS Centre for Quality Management and Students Quality Club from 28th February to 2nd March 2008, and aims for the interaction among the Students, Faculty and Industry. Quality is a process of continuous improvement which requires unwavering commitment and assiduous effort

THEME: UPHOLDING THE TRADITION OF QUALITY

The genesis of quality is in high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution. In this highly competitive world, continous improvements and changes are inevitable to survive. Hence the underlying beliefs are redefined and the quality culture is sustained, thereby upholding the tradition of quality.

5 ‘S’ AWARDS

OBJECTIVES

To spread awareness, promote the concept of 5 ‘S’ and provide an opportunity for benchmarking.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE

• Registration should be done on/or before 1st February 2008 by making a payment of Rs. 6,500/- by Demand Draft / Cheque in favour of ‘AU-TVS Centre for Quality Management’ payable at Chennai. Add service charges for outstation cheques.

• Specific dates of assessment will be informed beforehand. Evaluation criteria will be sent to you on registration.
The awards will be presented at the inaugural function of Q Quest 2008.

• Conveyance for the 5s assessors to be taken care by the participating companies. For companies out of Chennai one way fare will be charged based on actual

• The award is for the specific area (boundary defined by the participating company). It can be a specific process area, a specific shop floor or a part of it, an office etc.

• A company can nominate any number of work-specific areas/offices for the award.

SIX SIGMA:

Six Sigma Strives for perfection. Six Sigma relies heavily on statistical techniques to reduce defects and measure quality.

Six Sigma methodology improves any existing business process by constantly reviewing and re-tuning the process. To achieve this, Six Sigma uses a methodology known as DMAIC (Define opportunities, Measure performance, Analyze opportunity, Improve performance, Control performance).

Six Sigma methodology can also be used to create a brand new business process from ground up using DFSS (Design For Six Sigma) principles.

We invite presentations on Six Sigma Projects done in your firm.

RULES

• Maximum of four participants per team

• The presentation will be for 15 minutes, followed by a 5 minute Q & A session.

• Contributions should represent original research work which has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

• No laptops are allowed for presentations. All the participants are requested to bring their presentations in CDs or USB’s only.
