ADMISSION NOTICE FOR MBBS/B.Pharm. COURSE-2008 :
The Banaras Hindu University will hold All India COMPETITIVE WRITTEN TEST for admission to MBBS course (55 seats) in TWO stages:
PMT/PAT-2008 SCREENING and PMT-2008 MAIN, and to B. Pharm. course (25 seats) in ONE stage: PMT/PAT-2008 Screening. PMT/PAT-2008 SCREENING shall be held on Wednesday, the 7th May 2008 at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad Centres, to screen candidates for eligibility to take PMT-2008 MAIN examination for MBBS course which will be held on Sunday, the 15th June 2008 at Varanasi Centre only. For B. Pharm. course, candidates will be selected on the basis of their merit in the PMT/PAT-2008 SCREENING.
ELIGIBILITY :
QUALIFICATIONS - Passed Intermediate, 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together. Candidates appearing in qualifying examination may also apply.
DISTRIBUTION OF SEATS:
M.B.B.S.: General – 40; SC – 9; ST – 4; Physically disabled (PD) – 2; B.Pharm.: As per Government of India Reservation Policy.
AGE: Completed 17 years but not crossed 25 years as on 31st December, 2008 (Candidates born after 1st January, 1992 and on or before 31st December, 1983 need not apply).

BY CASH :
on payment of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 600/- for SC/ST candidates) from the following branches of BANK OF BARODA.
(i) VARANASI – (1) BHU, (2) Ram Katora, and (3) Orderly Bazar Branches.
(ii) DELHI–(1) Parliament Street, (2) Shakti Nagar, and (3) Nehru Place Branches.
(iii) LUCKNOW – Charbagh Branch. (iv) KOLKATA – College Street Branch.
(v) HYDERABAD – Hyderabad Main Branch, ABIDS Circle (vi) PUNE – Station Road Branch (vii) BHOPAL – TT Nagar Branch (viii) JAIPUR – DCM Branch.
Application Form can be obtained from Bank of Baroda (BHU Branch, Varanasi only), upto Thursday, 06.03.2008 till 4:00 PM.
BY POSTAL CHANNEL :
From the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221 005 by sending a written request through Registered Post along with Crossed Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque (MICR only) of Rs. 1060/- (Rs. 660/- for SC/ST candidates) of a Nationalized Bank, drawn in favour of “The Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU” payable at Varanasi. Application form will be sent by Speed / Registered Post. However, Institute will not be responsible for any loss or postal delay. The request for application form must include the name and address of the candidate, and full particulars of the enclosed DD/BC (write candidate’s name and address on the back of DD). Two self-addressed, preferably typed, white paper slips of 10 cm ´ 6 cm size MUST also accompany it. The ENVELOP containing requisition for PMT/PAT application form should be super scribed “Request for Application for PMT/PAT-2008, BHU”. Last date of requisition for PMT/PAT form by post is Wednesday, the 20th February 2008. Incomplete/non-cashable Draft (under amount/unsigned/ without Bank Code No. & Seal) shall not be accepted. NOTE: (a) Separate Bank Draft will be required for each application form. (b) M.O./I.P.O./Cheques shall NOT be accepted under any circumstances. Application Forms from the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, can be obtained by POST only and not in person. In case forms are not available at Bank of Baroda Branches, the same can be obtained by post from Director’s Office upto 20th February, 2008.
LAST DATE FOR SUBMISSION OF COMPLETED APPLICATION FORM :
Application form duly completed must be sent through Registered Post so as to reach THE DIRECTOR (PMT CELL), INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES, BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY, VARANASI-221 005 latest by SATURDAY, the 8th March 2008 till 5.00 PM. Application forms received after the last date shall not be accepted. Foreign Nationals are not required to appear in the PMT examination for MBBS course. They may seek admission through the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi, as per the rules laid down for the purpose and their nomination must reach by Wednesday, the 16th July 2008.
