Chief Minister Digambar Kamat told a press conference that teachers would get interest free loan for laptops worth upto Rs 40,000 and that they would be granted senior scale from the date of initial appointment instead of the date of acquisition of training certificate/degree.
Besides, Kamat who also holds education portfolio said the 20 per cent quota of granting selection scale to eligible teachers would be removed. As per the latest decision, all the teachers after completion of 24 years would be eligible for second upgradation. Hitherto, only 20 per cent of the teachers who complete 24 years in service were eligible for Selection grade. The Assured Career Progression scheme for teachers will be implemented as per Government of India notification, he informed.
The two issues of granting senior scale and selection scale were long pending with the government, Kamat said.
Regarding the interest-free loan facility, Kamat said the teacher would have to repay the loan amount in monthly installments which can go up to 100. The facility will be available to secondary, higher secondary, college, polytechnic and university teachers while the scheme will be implemented through Goa Education Development Corporation, he said.
The chief minister also stated that he has written a personal letter to all the teachers.
