, R. A. Puram Review

Cream centre restaurant in Chennais good old Raja Annamalai Puram or R. A. Puram is just close to Park Sheraton or to say near Adayar Gate hotel. An old bunglow in Greenways Road have been converted to become a restaurant. One is sure to mis-understand this restaurant to be an ice cream centre. We later learned from a friend of mine, that there is original Cream Centre in Mumbai. The restaurant being in a bunglow is surrounded by trees and if one goes there for dinner, one can see the moon peeping in through the leaves of the trees.

The whole restaurant is absolutely designed to be with great elegance and the ambiance and atmosphere is such that one will want to go there again and again.

The food served here is a multicuisine one which include North Indian, Continental, Mexican and Lebanese and everything is completely veggie. They have one special variety of each of the cuisines. But still that particular dish that lingers in my mind when I think of this restaurant is Channa Bhatura sans Bhatura (beware it is a bit more oily).

We started off with the sizzlers and the corn cheese balls were the best of all of them. The regulars, paneer tikka, baby corn golden fry were also there, still, we went for a second round of the Corn Cheese Balls. We also tasted Onion rings which resembled the south Indian onion bajjis but tasted absolutely Mexican.

Then came the steaming hot Channa Bhatura , signature Paratha with raitha, dal and our favourite side dish Shahi Paneer. Then came the desserts Kulfi and sweets.

Some of the few recipes are bit hot and spicy. So if we are taking the kids there, it is better to go for some of the recipes that are ear marked for the kids. One more speciality is the Jain option for many of the dishes.

The staff here are too friendly and they help us choose the right menu. The parking space is also good.
