Chennai city as one of the metropolitan cities was very conservative in the 20th century but in the 21st it has shed itself most of the conservativeness it had earlier. We could see only Indian cuisine restaurants and that too only south Indian cuisine in those days.

Now you can see lots of Chinese, Lebanese, Italian, Korean, Continental and of course, now, Thai cuisine at Benjarong Restaurant. The people at Chennai have learnt to try out new dishes. That recipes are real tongue twisters when it comes to their names. you will not understand a thing from the menu if you are not used to it.

We were thunderstruck when we saw the menu for the first time. We just didnot know what to choose and what to leave. I like food on the spicy side, never did like the bland and mild varieties except my own Kerala food. At Chennai we are always known to go in for hot spicy food. By the by, I am just moving away from the subject. Let me get back to it.

These tongue twisters, let me give you some examples, Khao Tod Pod Prik Pon is nothing but Fried baby corn tossed in dry chillies and served as rice tartlets.
Man Farang Tod Nam Prik Pow is crispy fried potatoes and Broccoli Tod Nambouy is crispy fried broccoli glazed with apricot sauce. Please excuse me if I got any of these names wrong. spellings are also as confusing as the names.

Just do not try to choose anything yourself, you will make a mess out of it. Just give the job to those who know aboput it and you will enjoy the food, like we did there. I do not remember the dishes names which we took but anyway I am not able to forget the taste. It is still lingering in my mouth.

So go to Benjarong and try out what they ask you to. for the dessert you can try water chestnut rubies in chilled sweet coconut milk, we liked it.
