, New Delhi Review
Chacha Di Hatti is situated next to the North Campus called Kamla Nagar where University of Delhi is situated and this Kamla Nagar is just opposite to Hans Raj College. The market is famous for popular brands of fashion apparel and the spicy street food. The market is a popular hangout for college students, many of whom live in hostels and rented accommodation close by. Well, Chacha Di hatti is one of the star spots of North Campus and all those broke-n-hungry souls call it their last resort when it comes to a filling lunch. ..:-) You can see a great crowd outside the shop as if some festival is going on.
This shop is a great place to treat the whole college on your birthday, this place has absolutely no place to sit frankly speaking . And, youd be born lucky if you find a table to stand and eat at. Else, enjoy your hot plate of chhole bhature standing in the midst of an equal crowd. The price of food is very cheap that anyone can eat. Their menu only includes Aloo wale Chhole Bhature which cost Rs 18, Normal Chhole Bhature for Rs 16, Kulche Chhole for Rs 14, Chhole for Rs 10 and the price is per plate which include two bhature/kulche. The price for a plate is so cheap that anyone to eat. Its just tastes so good and tasty that you will love to eat as you put the first bite into your mouth.
Its a dhaba and not a restaurant so I wont say it is very hygienic because first it is located in a small place. Only positive point is that it is very famous and the price is very cheap with its good taste as well. But if good food is offered, then I wouldnt mind bad hygiene because its not only one who likes it but thousands of people come from far away to have chole bhature from this chachi di hatti.
The food is excellent, the long queue can prove it, ask anyone there they will proudly recommend this place to hang out for food. Chacha Di Hatti is open 6 days a week till early afternoon and queues of people going around the block for his simple menu is a common sight. There are separate lines for guys and galz, and they are quite particular for line discipline, so await your turn..No hesitation just be cool and wait for your turn. The best selling item is Aloo Wale Chole Bhature, and have a bite and youll know why. It is absolutely divine, the soft potato filled bhatures go magically with the spicy pindi chhole, topped up with tangy chutney, add the achaar and onion rings and and the plate makes for a most satisfying meal, trust me, you have one plate here and you will come back for more. I have tried almost all the item like Paneer Wale Bhature, but I also like Aloo Bhature a lot. All I can say, the food makes it quite worth it and divine..You will just not stop eating once you taste. Its my challenge. Just try it!! Lassi after it is amazing.
Besides this every corner of the market has a sweets shop like Vaishnav Chaat or Lakshmi Sweets with "gol-gappas" or "chaat" being a popular choice. Refreshing Center is a go-to for munchies or "namkeen" or the flavored milk bottles. The "lassi" or buttermilk and "puri cholle" of the famous Bille Di Hatti is another one of the many reasons why Kamla Nagar is one of the most popular places for Old Delhi cuisine.
Whenever we go to Kamla Nagar, we always eat Chole Bhature and enjoy a lot. Even though it is not spacious but I just love to go there and I have rather no complains for it.
