The big bazaar hype is definitely big when it comes to seasonal shopping in Chennai. This is the second store opened by the group and in a very prominent shopping locality of Chennai - Pondy Bazaar. The complex this Big Bazaar is located is JanaPriya Complex, but many know it only as the HotChips complex. There is no parking space at all in this mall (it is very hard to digest). Hardly two or three cars can be parked. Better park outside in the road side of Pondy Bazaar and walk along to this store.

Though they say the store is of 4 floors, it is spread over 5 floors, including the basement which is mainly Food Bazaar and that is also a part of this Big Bazaar. Though this mall is spread over 5 floors, there is no much of space to walk around the floor inbetween the shelves. (They could have arranged it much more better). Though each floor is dedicated to one separate section, it is not so well organized like so many other stores in that area. The products simply seem to have been dumped in those respective sections rather than nicely arranged.

I have visited this shop immediatly after it was open and also recently. The store is just the same as I have described above and they have taken no pains to improve it. Inspite of this, the store is crowded to the core even on Sunday.

The staff of this store, most of the time, dont wear the store uniforms and I did have the bad experience of asking one or two who too turned out to be customers (how embarassing). Even those staff, who were seen standing near some counters, yes standing, were simply standing and they dont know what is what and what is where.

When we went to shop there for last Diwali, we want to go for some electronics items but we didnot venture as we felt the quality seem to be quite low when compared to other mobile show rooms. Have heard that their discount sales is also not so good. Better to check the expiry date of products in food bazaar. We shopped for clothes in Big Bazaar last Diwali and it was a real good bargain. Not only in Pondy Bazaar but also in a Big Bazaar outlet in Bangalore, we got some dress material and dresses for kids which we didnot find any defect to be told. So this year too, the kids choice were to go to Big Bazaar, Pondy Bazaar for Diwali shopping. One thing I have to def tell about the dress they sell, choose the correct size(especially for the kids and dont get one size big).

They could improve a bit more when it comes to arranging things in shelves and staff helping the customers.
