About Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 School
Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Kalpakkam, established in 1970, is located on the eastern coast of southern peninsula in the picturesque background of the sparkling silver sands and rolling waves of the Bay of Bengal. The school has infrastructure such as well-equipped laboratories, a library with a huge collection of books and a language laboratory. The school enjoys the patronage of DAE Community. The Directors of DAE, Since Shri M.R. Srinivasan to Shri. Baldevraj today have been the pillars of strength of this institution, grooming it to be one of the best institutions in this area.
The school started with the students strength of 200 but today it provides education to as many as 900 students. Shri.G. Subramanian, Shri. V.V. Srikantaiah and Shri. M.R. Subramanian are some of the eminent Principals. Today, the Principal Smt R. Leela Bai, with a team of dedicated teachers, provides a wholesome education to the wards of DAE residents and people round.
It is a matter of pride that Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Kalpakkam has produced a number of successful engineers, doctors, scientists, software professionals, auditors, managers and business men. In 1977, Laxmi Myneni got All India 2nd Rank in X Std Board Examinations. In 1984, Babu Narayan, topped XII Board Examinations at All India Level and P. Srinivas stood 4th at the All India Level. It provides PCMB or PCMCs at XI and XII levels.
Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Kalpakkam is noted for its excellence not only in academics but also in co-curricular activities such as Sports, Yoga, Quiz and Olympiads. Our school bagged 25 medals (6 Gold, 7 Silver and 12 Bronze) in the last KVS National Swimming Meet. This School saw its Silver Jubilee in the year 1996. It has been rendering its service for 35 years in shaping the over-all personality of students. Hence it enjoys an enviable status in Kalpakkam.
