I don't think that Indian Farmersget appropriate incomes or help from NGO/Govt till date.
But, they are earning more than previous no doubt.

I also agree with Anindya, Government always think about farmers on the pages and they made budgets and till the time of implementation came that goes in vein.

My point is the budget government proposed each year should be directly given to farmers without any mediator as everyone know the level of corruption in India.

One should do his best for farmers to bring this country ahead of all

I think that indian goverment is not showing that much interest on farmers. They used to provide subsidy for low quality seeds which results in loss for the farmers. Government should take special interest on them.

    Regards
    Balaji.

They are fooling us... To win in election they introduce National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme,so finding labourers for farm work has become herculean task. Now what happed...? Increase in price... Finally again the sufferer are farmers....

The government, after a long wait of 4 years, have accepted some minor recommendations of Prof Alagh Committee and rejected main recommendation of conferring statutory status on CACP which would have paved way to address all problems relating to pricing of agri produce. The government also restrained the commission from adopting long-range marginal cost principle for analysis and development pricing and economic policies for fixing MSP. It also did not allow CACP from upward revision of the tariff rate on edible oil and additional protection for cotton beyond the WTO bound rate. This clearly shows that government wants to retain vice like grip on prices and tariffs of farm produce to the detriment of farmers. The govt wants to use farmers as mere tools to produce food for others and they are not paid remunerative price for their produce all these days. Hence the terms of trade have turned against farmers. The recommendations of the NCF and the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture have been brushed aside. Thus the interests of farmers are relegated to the back ground once again. Time for farmers and those dependant on farming who form majority of the electorate to show their strength and will through exercising their ballot power in the coming elections by voting for those contesting candidates who will work for implementing the recommendations of Prof.Alagh Committee, Prof.Swaminathan Commission and recommendations of the Standing Committee on Agriculture.
