    description:

    C is a programming language developed AT &T’s Bell Laboratories of USA in 1972.It was designed & written by Dennis Ritcgie.In the late seventies C began to replace the more familiar languages of that time like PL/I,ALGOL etc.No one pushed C.It was NT made the ‘official’ Bell Labs language.Thus, without any advertisement,C’s reputation spread & it’s pool of users grew.Ritche seems to have been rather surprised that so many program mes preferred C to older languages like FORTRAN or PL/I,or newer ones like PASCAL & APL.
    Possibly why C seems to popular as its very interesting,challenging & widely used.Moreover, in an industry where newer languages,tools & technologies emerge & vanish day in day out,a language that has survived for more than three decades has to be really good as C languages combines the features of both high level languages resulting in faster programme development & better machine efficiency.
