About Academy of Maritime Education and Training The AMET University is situated on the outskirts of the city of Chennai (Madras), is a State-of-the- art establishment totally dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge to the Shipping Industry. AMET was launched on 15th February 1993 and caters to the needs of the Shipping Industry not only in India, but worldwide. AMET is the first Maritime Academy in India to have its Quality Management System certified to conform to ISO Standards. AMET is a private enterprise promoted by Smt. Pattammal Educational and Charitable Trust. Mr.J.Ramachandran is the Chancellor of the Trust.
