    Places to visit in Hyderabad

The rectangular structure stands as the legendary masterpiece of the Qutb Shahis. This was built as a tribute to God in ending the plague before it made irrepairable damage. The name Charminar means Four Towers or the four minarets. There is a mosque on the top floor. Legend says that an underground tunnel connects Charminar and the Golconda Fort.

    Golconda Fort
Once a monument, this fort is now in ruins. The fort was built by the Shahi kings, but the most important of them is Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah Wali. The most fascinating feature of the fort is, if you clap at the fort's main gates, it can be heard at the top of the citadel. There are four forts within 10 kms radius.

    Birla Mandir
A hindu temple built of white marble on top of a hill.

    Hussain Sagar Lake
An aritificial lake that separates the two twin cities with a 19m tall Buddha statue in the middle of the lake. Boating and water sports are regulars in this lake. The lake looks so beautiful in the night as it is flodded with lights. The tank of the lake is decorated with flower gardens and statues of famous people.

    Salar Jung Museum
Located on the bank of the river Musi, this museum holds the largest collections of antiques collected by one individual, Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan Salar Jung. Important exhibits include, Aurangazeb's sword, turbans and chair of Tippu Sultan. The best exhibit one should not miss to see is the time keeper clock. Every hour a time keeper comes out of the clock(just like a cuckoo comes out of the cuckoo clock) and strikes the gong as many times as that of the hour. It is a great delight to see it.
