Total Electorate - 1719868
Male Voters - 889062
Female voters - 830806
jammu has a lot of complexities in the public life. Their Hindu Muslim problems, Traders and peasants, settled farmers and nomads are there in the area and is spread out deep and rooted inside the state.
These problems are there and no one is able to do anything about it and it is terrorists who are gaining from this situation.
In all the elections except 1998 and 1999 the people gave Congress their mandate, when they gave BJP their vote.
Madanlal Sharma who won the elections has been retained as their candidate for the 2009 elections also.Leela Karan Sharma is the BJP Candidate for this elections. There is no campaign by the parties there because BJP thinks it is a lost cause and that Congress will win as usual, while the Congress has also taken for granted that they will win.
The alliance which the Congress has with the National Conference is unstoppable as far as the other parties are concerned. They are supposed to win hands down.
