Political analysis of the constituency:
This constituency has come into existence in the year 1952. First MP from this constituency was Y. Gadilingana Gowd (1952-57) from Praja Socialist Party. Congress won for the first time in 1957 and its candidate was Osman Ali Khan. Totally 15 Lok Sabha elections were held in this constituency & out of this Congress had won 11 times followed by Telugu Desam party (TDP) which has won 2 times in the year 1984 and 1999. This constituency was the hot spot for the congress in 2004 and 2009 Lok sabha constituency. Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar reddy had won 6 times and served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and his son Kotla Jayasurya Prakasha Reddy had won two times are the main leaders of congress. “Kotla" family has much popularity in this constituency, due to which Congress has won many times.
Present Political analysis:
Kurnool Lok Sabha constituency is an important constituency for three parties Congress, TDP and YSRCP. Especially for YSRC it is the deciding factor they must have to won this constituency because this party in these four district of Rayalaseema and more over this party origins from this constituency. TDP also giving tough fight for YSRC party and we can expect an interesting fight in this constituency. Not only these two parties Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy likely going to make new party which they are going to contest in this constituency. Lok Satta and other independents are also going to contest for the coming 16th Lok Sabha elections.
Major political campaign subjects of the constituency:
All the parties already started their political campaigns in that TDP and YSRCP are in front place compared to another party. Reddy Community is large in this constituency & most of the parties finalised their candidates from this community to bag the votes from this community. YSRC party has strong cadre in both Reddy Communities as well as in Dalit there are using the name of former chief minister Late Y.S. Raja Sakar Reddy to win in this poll. TDP is exposing the failures of present government and Corruption cases against YSRC party leader and they are using the sentiment of United Andhra as their major political campaigns.
Lok Satta party going to contest in the elections by not using money and muscle power & they are exposing the corruption and the ill governance of traditional parties. This party did not have enough cadre to win but they are targeting the youth. Other parties and some independent leaders are using separate Rayalaseema as their political campaign to win in this constituency.
