About the state
Karnataka which was previously known as the State of Mysore is an Indian state in the South West part of the country. The state is formed on November 1 1956 under States Reorganisation Act. Bengaluru which was formerly known as Bangalore is the most livable city of the country with a cosmopolitan atmosphere and is the capital of the state.
The state is bounded by the Arabian Sea in the West, Maharashtra in the North, Andhra Pradesh in the East and Kerala in the South. The state comprises of 30 districts with two major river systems viz. Krishna and its tributaries and Kaveri and its tributaries.
