B.K. Birla College of Arts, Science and Commerce is an autonomous college, managed by the Kalyan Citizens' Education Society, Maharashtra and is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. It was established in 1972. The institute is accredited A++ grade by NACC and also has ISO 9001: 2015 Certification. The College was granted by UGC as 'College of Excellence' status for the assessment period 2015-2020.
In the year 2020, this college was selected Under the Scheme 'Unnat Bharat Abhiyan 2.0' for 'Holistic development of adopted Villages' by MHRD, GOI. The College also has a dedicated Gandhian Studies Center, Women's Studies and Dr. Ambedkar Studies Center, Centre for Yoga and Philosophy Centre, and Centre for Studies in Epigraphy and Foreign Languages. The college campus is spread over 20 acres of land in the prime location of Kalyan city.
There are about 14000 students enrolled in the college and it has a faculty of 100+ teachers. The college offers a total of 60 courses in Research, PG, UG, and Junior College categories.
InfrastructureThe college has classrooms with ICT facilities, about 50% of which are smart classrooms. It has one 3D studio also.
It also has a Central Library supported by IT infrastructure. The library has about 79,000 books, and a variety of audio-visual material, periodicals, E-books, etc. It has acquired institutional membership of Inflibnet and Delnet.
AdmissionsFor admission to XI, XII and Vocational courses students must have passed the Class X Examination conducted by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or an equivalent board in India.
For admission to UG courses in the science stream the students should have Mathematics as one of the subjects in their HSC and should have secured not less than 45% marks in the case of students belonging to the general category and not less than 40% marks in the case of students belonging to reserved category. For other UG courses, Mathematics in HSC is not mandatory.
Admission of students to M.A., M.Com., and M.Sc. will be on the basis of merit of the qualifying exam. However, Admission to M.Sc. in Environmental Science and Bioanalytical Science will be on the basis of an entrance exam.
