It was established in 1988 by the great visionary and philanthropist Hon. Shri. Vilasraoji Deshmukh. Hon. Shri. D. D. Deshmukh and Late Hon. Adv. B. V. Kale took over the responsibilities as President and Secretary of the T rust respectively, since its inception. The prime objective of Trust is to make available quality managerial education, technical and non-technical education to the students in the rural as well as urban areas of Maharashtra . In its endeavour to achieve the goal, the Trust started number of High Schools, Junior Colleges, Degree Colleges in various disciplines of Arts, Science, Commerce Education. In 1992, feather in its cap was added when the Trust established College of Engineering at Navi Mumbai to meet the increasing demand of high quality technocrats. The institute was later renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, in the memory of great son of the land, Late Shri. Rajiv Gandhi. Hon. Shri. Amitji Deshmukh took over as Executive Trustee in the year 2000.

To be a leading organization devoted to technological and socio economic development of the region by establishing institutions of high quality education for the entire community irrespecti ve of caste, creed and religion.
Mission :
. To establish and run educational institutions of all kinds to provide facilities for education from preliminary level to the highest level in different regional areas as deemed fit.
. To undertake the activities in physical education and sports to help the existing institutions.
. To establish and run libraries for masses in rural areas.
. To undertake any such activity incidental to above objectives without limiting in any way the benefits to any caste, creed, community and religion.
