About A.C. College of Engineering and Technology
The ACCET college was found by R.M. Alagappa Chettiar Education Trust. The college was founded with the aim to develop those areas of Karaikudi which were falling back in development and progress in the Karaikudi area of the Tamil Nadu state. The college started to impart education on 21st July 1952. At that time, the college had 3 faculties - Civil, Mechanical and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The foundation stone of the college was laid down on 19 February 1953, by Rajendra Prasad, the then President of India.
In the year 1966, the institution was handed over by the trust to the Government of Tamil Nadu. In the year 1969, the Electronics and Communication Engineering faculty was started in the college. Masters level education started in the college in 1983 with ME in Microwave and Optical Engineering. This was followed by Masters in Computer Applications in 1988. 2001 witnessed the initiation of B.E. Degree course in Computer Science and Engineering.
