About GITAM Institute of Technology
Established in the year 1980 in Visakhapatnam, GITAM Institute of Technology (GIT) has been at the forefront of engineering education in the region. Affiliated to GITAM University, it offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various engineering fields. The five engineering departments at GIT are Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science, Biotechnology and Electrical, Electronics & Communication. Along with some research-based programs, a few certificate courses are also available at this institute.
Infrastructure Located at GITAM Visakhapatnam campus, students at GITAM Institute of Technology have access to all the facilities available at the campus. Apart from the Learning Resource Centre or the central library, every engineering department at GIT has its own departmental library with books and journals specific to the department. Every classroom and laboratory at GIT is enabled with ICT technology. The department of Biotechnology has 11 well-equipped laboratories. Similarly, the other departments also have a number of laboratories equipped with the latest equipment. There are also a few research centres for postgraduate and doctoral students to carry out research work in their respective domains.
The civil engineering department has a Department Computer Centre for equipping the civil engineering students with software skills relevant to their field. Some of the software are AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, ArcGIS, SYSTAT and MATLAB. The computer centre also has a digital library with access to a number of e-resources.
The Department of Computer Science offers various UG and PG programs in areas such as Cyber Security, Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing and Internet of Things. The laboratories are having state-of-the-art equipment. Every year, the department sees many campus selections by notable tech companies like Microsoft, HCL, Amazon, Flipkart as well as postgraduate admissions to some of the best universities in the world.
The ECE or the Electrical, Electronics & Communication department, apart from the undergraduate courses, offers a number of M.Tech and PhD programs in areas such as VLSI Design, Digital Systems, Electronics Design & Technology, Microwave Engineering, Signal Processing and so on.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering too offers a number of courses. Additionally, the department has clubs like Automotive Club and Aero Modeling Club, which gives the students the opportunity to be part of various innovative projects.
