About Bijoy Krishna Girls College
We are proud to declare that pioneer of womens'' education in Howrah district, Bijoy Krishna Girls'' College (formerly, Girls'' College, Howrah) has celebrated its 60th anniversary year in 2006-2007–which ironically coinsided with the 60th year of Indian independence. It was indeed a bliss to be alive at the dawn of independence in India on August 15, 1947. It was a heavenly experience also to be young at that time, since the founder Principal, the Late Bijoy Krishna Bhattacharya, along with some of his educationist friends realised in every fibre of their being the paramount importance of higher education among the young girls of the time.
