Anand Institute of Higher Technology commonly known as AIHT was introduced into the Engineering colleges arena by the year 2000. The founder of this college Mr. T. Kalasingam is a philanthropist and a Gandhian who devoted his full time for uplifting the backward classes of our society. He was ideally given the title "Kalvi Vallal".
Anand Institute of Higher Technology is located in a rural area near Chennai city and it is very near the IT hub(Old Mahabalipuram Road) of Chennai. It is one among the many professional institutions run by Anandam Ammal Charities with the background success of running professional institutions over 25years.
Anand Institute of Higher Technology has a widespread area of 25 acres and provides with ideal atmosphere for students who study in this college.The college is just 15 Km away from Chennai city. This institution not different from other engineering colleges in the state getting approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu and the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and is affiliated to the Anna University.
The college is situated in the I T Corridor where many of the IT companies like Infosys, TCServices, CTS, Wipro, Accenture, Polaris and many others are having their presence. This college might well become the hub of the technological future of Tamil Nadu.
A departmental seminar hall allocated for each department promotes the availability of seminar halls without clash of events. Official meetings are held in central air-conditioned staff halls. Very good auditorium is provided for conducting symposiums and other events in the campus. Well supplied and well furnished canteen fulfils the needs of the students anytime. Also a common room is allocated for both boys and girls to refresh boys and girls especially day scholars where they can have their lunch a facility which many colleges fail to provide.
Good medical support is given by visiting doctor who checks the students bi-monthly to ail the students. Necessary stationary shop, photocopying centres and STD facilities are provided within the campus to fulfil the needs of students. The college also provides eminent transportation facilitiy to all parts of the city. The college also gives importance for extra cirricular activities like NSS, YRC and all sports amenities are provided within the campus with well maintained grounds.

Introduction
Anand Institute of Higher Technology (AIHT) is located at Rajiv Gandhi Road(OMR), an outer area of Chennai. It is exactly located in a rural area called Kazhipattur. The Rajiv Gandhi Road is also known as IT corridor since it is a hub for many IT companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL, CTS, etc., The college is affiliated to Anna University Chennai, approved by AICTE, New Delhi and it is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), Government of India. AIHT is an ISO 9001:2008 certified institution.
Courses offered
AIHT offers various under graduate and post graduate programmes for its students. The under graduate courses include Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, IT, Computer Science, Mechanical, etc., The post graduate courses includes M.B.A, M.C.A, M.E(CSE), Communication systems, etc., Students are also given certain scholoarships for their studies based on their eligibility.
Facilities for students at AIHT
The college provides a lot of facilities for its students. Various facilities like ATM, Medical facilities, Transport facilities are there for the benefit of the students. The college also has an auditorium to conduct symposiums and other events.
Hostel facility is there for the students who are coming for study purpose from distant locations. There are indoor games available for the hostel students. Students are strictly prohibited from using mobile phones inside the hostel. Visitors are allowed only in the weekends that also only during day time.
The college has a well structured library with accomodating more than 22000 volumes of books. Free internet browsing facilities are available for the students in the library. The library is a fully automated only where students can check the availability of books, status and everything with the use of the software.
Placement facilities at AIHT
The college has a very active placement cell which prepares students for facing the campus interviews with enough knowledge and talent. Placement training programmes are also conducted for students. In the 2010-2011 batch, more than 220 students got placed in various MNC’s like Infosys, Wipro, iGate, CSS Corp, FLSmidth, Polaris, etc., For the batch 2012, till now more than 330 students got placed in the above mentioned companies.
