About Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research
Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research was started as a Department of Pharmacy in the year 1964 under the Directorate of Training and Technical Education. It was shifted to Pusa institute in the year 1972 and to its present location at Pushp Vihar in 1979. The campus currently occupies around 10.5 acres of land and is affiliated to the University of Delhi. The college now offers various branches of pharmaceutical science, including Ocular Pharmacology, Novel Drug Discovery, Hospital Pharmacy and many more.
InfrastructureThe institute has separate laboratories for undergraduate, postgraduate and research courses. These labs are most advanced and are well-equipped.
The library, started in 1979, occupies 4400 square feet of space within the campus. It has a great collection of books, journals, magazines, etc related to the field of science and pharmacy. It is air-conditioned and has proper sitting arrangements.
Information Technology is very important not only for computer students but for all the academic branches. Every lab, library, seminar hall, guest house, auditorium and lecture theaters are having computers with internet facilities and connected through LAN.
Apart from the departmental laboratories, the institute also has a central instrumentation facility, especially for research-based practicals. This center is having many advanced instruments like Lyophilizer, High Pressure /liquid Chromatography system, Spectrophotometers, and many more.
There is a CPCSEA approved animal house on the campus that is dedicated to the rodent species, their breeding, and maintenance. The animal house has 2 floors with separate enclosures for rabbits, record office, storeroom, and a washing area. The growth of the animals is regularly monitored by veterinarian doctor, attendant staff, in charge, and the research scholars.
A Herbal or Botanical garden is also there for use by postgraduate students and research scholars for their projects. The herbs grown depend upon the season and the projects.
The college provides hostel facility for whoever wants to avail.
