About Dr. S.N.N. Government Degree College, Vedikhal (Garhwal)
Dr. S. N. N. Government Degree College, Vedikhal is a co-education, undergraduate course college and was founded in the year 1979. It is located in Thalisen taluka in the district of Pauri Garhwal in the state of Uttarakhand. It offers some UG courses in Arts and Humanities and a self-financed course in B.Ed. The college is affiliated with Sridev Suman Uttarakhand University, New Tehri (Garhwal).
FacilitiesThere is one library in the college which is well equipped with all the relevant books and other reference material. The students can get the books issued from the library from time to time.
To inculcate social concern and social service in the students the National Service Scheme (NSS) program is functional in the college where the volunteering students contribute to the service and welfare of the society.
There are all the major sports and games available in the college and students are encouraged to participate in them and are selected to represent the college for inter-university sports. Annual sports are observed in the college itself.
Eligibility for admissionFor UG Arts and Humanities courses the candidate should have a minimum of 40% marks in his or her intermediate (10+2) examination. Admission for the B.Ed. the course is decided separately through a centralized process by Garhwal University.
AdmissionsThe interested candidates have to get the admission form from the college or download it from the college site and completely fill it with all the details asked and then attach copies of the necessary documents before submitting it in the college office. Admissions are based on merit and as per the merit. Only selected students will get a call for an interview for which the candidates need to appear with the original educational mark sheets and certificates and other documents like Aadhar card, proof of residence, an affidavit signed by the parents, and transfer certificate & character certificate from the earlier institute. Once admission is granted after the interview the candidate has to deposit a fee and collect his identity card.
For the preparation of the merit list, certain marks will be considered for considerations other than the academics like award of college teaching staffs, NCC certificate holders, NSS special camp certificate holders, wards of paramilitary forces in J & K, students participating in university eleven, participants of inter-university cultural activities, and participants in inter-university or international sports.
There are reservations for various categories in these courses and that is taken care of during the admission. Reservations are there for SC (19%), ST (4%), and OBC (14%) candidates. In parallel to that horizontal reservations are there for Women (20%), Ex-servicemen (2%), Physically challenged (3%), and dependents of freedom fighters (2%). - Umesh
