About Gobardanga Hindu College
Gobardanga Hindu College was established in the year 1947 in North 24 Parganas in the state of West Bengal. It offers general and honours UG courses in various subjects in Arts, Humanities, Science, and Commerce streams. It also offers PG courses in some select subjects like Bengali, Education, and History. The institute is accredited with NACC and is affiliated to West Bengal State University.
FacilitiesThe entire college campus is having Wi-Fi connectivity. The student is facilitated to do his online work anywhere on the campus. The college office, all the departments, and the library are connected to the internet and there is a common computer centre for working of the students there in batches.
For arranging group activities, cultural programmes, and special functions there is an auditorium in the college which is used on all such occasions.
College is having a multi-gym facility for the students for physical exercises and fitness programmes. There are ample sports activities also in the college as there are all the sports available and a big playground is also there for carrying out sports and games activities. Sports competitions are held regularly and students are encouraged to participate in them.
There is one unit of NSS (National Service Scheme) where the interested students can enrol themselves and in this activity, the participants develop their social awareness towards society and take part in many activities like blood donation camp, AIDS awareness programme, cleaning and making other environment-friendly actions, social work in the nearby localities etc.
The college library has got a good collection of books, reference books, and journals for the reference and study of the students. The total resources for students including books and non-books sources are around 35000 numbers in this library.
There are two girl's and one boy's hostel in the college providing adequate accommodation with all the basic amenities.
There is one college canteen on the campus which serves the staff and students. The food and snacks are served at subsidised rates to all.
One Career Counselling cell is there in the college which takes an active part in connecting the students to the industry through campus interviews and recruitments. The cell provides constant support and helps to the bright students to get jobs in the good companies or business houses in our country.
As per the guidelines of the UGC Remedial Coaching Scheme, the college provides this to the SC, ST, OBC, and economically backward general students.
AdmissionsThe admissions are based strictly on the merit basis as per the marks obtained in the qualifying exam. For general UG courses, the candidates should have passed in their HSC exam while for honours courses they should have obtained marks as per one of the following conditions -
1. At least 45% marks in the related subject and 50% marks in the aggregate.
OR
2. At least 55% marks in the related subject.
OR
3. At least 50% marks in aggregate even if the student did not have the subject in his qualifying exam.
For the B.Music (Honours) course 45% marks in the Music subject and 45% marks in the aggregate will suffice.
For the reserved category candidates, the eligibility for UG honours courses are only having obtained at least 40% in the related subject and a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate.
The students desirous of applying for UG courses have to register on the website of the college and give all the relevant personal information including mobile number, email, blood group, HSC examination registration number and Roll number, scanned copy of passport etc. On submission of these details, the application number and PIN number will be generated for the applicant which one has to use whenever logging in to the college site. After this step one can choose the subjects of one's choice and the system will match it with the already uploaded HSC details and is found in place, the student can click on the ‘Payment' button and make the payment. The student should note that if there is any correction in the details already submitted it should be carried before going for payment and once the payment button is clicked then all the data uploaded is locked and the student cannot make any correction. The admission will be finalised only after physical document verification of all the original documents of the candidate in the college.
