About Allana College of Architecture
Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society (MCES) was established in the year 1948 by Late Mr. Abdul Kadir Khan and others, with an objective of providing education to the economically, educationally and socially weaker sections of the society. It is an educational society registered under the Society's Registration Act of 1860 and also a Public Trust registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950. It is also registered under section 12 (a) of Income Tax Act 1961 and is exempted u/s 80G of the said Act by the Income Tax Commissioner, Pune.
The M.C.E. Society is one of the oldest educational organizations of Pune & has done pioneering work in the field of education. Within a span of 15 years the M.C.E.Society from a humble beginning of 4 schools has been transformed into an excellent educational complex of higher, medical, technical and professional academic institutions in the field of Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Science, Law, Education, Pharmacy, Management Sciences, Architecture, Dental Sciences, Hospitality Studies & Information Technology.
The progress and development made by M.C.E.Society and Azam Campus has been duly lauded and recognized by the Government of India. The M.C.E.Society has recently been awarded the first "Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Literacy Award" constituted by Maulana Azad Education Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India for being one of the best Minority Educational Campus in India. The M.C.E.Society and Azam campus has become a source of inspiration and role model to follow for many educational institutions not only in Maharashtra but also in the entire country.
The Society has made tremendous progress in the field of academics, sports, and extra curricular activities. The infrastructure with beautiful buildings, well laid internal roads, picturesque landscape, well equipped laboratiores, libraries with computers, furnished hostels for both boys and girls, V.M. Gany Sports Complex and pavilion constructed in accordance with National standards is a well-Known play arena. The students take maximum advantage of these facilities and have shown results by participating in the State and National level competitions and bringing laurels to their respective colleges & institutions. The moral and value education enhances the personality of our students and develops self-confidence, self respect and a positive attitude towards life.
College: Architecture is one of the four professions recognized by the Education Ministry in India along with medicine, law and chartered accountancy. It is not just designing; making layouts and getting them sanctioned from local authorities, but is an art of creating spaces: spaces that are built and inbuilt, spaces that create an environment appropriate for the required use. And while planning for a specific activity in such a space, how to makeit interesting, inviting, imposing and comfortable is the role of an architect.Creativity and Visualisation being the prime aspect of the architect, he also needs to have an updated knowledge of how to bring his imagination to physical existence on the earth.
We are here to make architects to their fullest by being a helping hand,with our practical guidance, a proud pat on shoulders witnessing the making of an architect.
The M.C.E. Society established the Allana College of Architecture in 1999. The college is indebted to Mr. Abdul Razzak Allana & Late Mr. Hussain Allana for their generous donations. The College is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Council of Architecture of India (New Delhi), Director of Technical Education Maharashtra State and is affiliated to the University of Pune.
Infrastructure:
The college is housed in a spacious new building constructed as per norms and specifications of Council of Architecture.
1. 5 spacious studios for a minimum of 40 students with drawing board desks.
2. 4 separate class rooms for lectures.
3. Self-help library with over 1000 titles and monthly issues with a large reading hall.
4. Audio-visual presentation cum seminar hall with overhead projector, also separate LCD projector hall.
5. Well- equipped, air- conditioned computer lab with updated CAD software.
6. Other facilities like art studio, workshop with model making room, carpentry tools, material museum, construction yard, surveying and leveling instruments, meteorological instruments and masonry tools, etc.
7. A covered courtyard for group activities, gatherings and cultural Events.
8. Assembly hall , Playground etc are shared with other Institutions in the Campus
9. Canteen as well as nes-café outlet.
10. Adequate parking space.
Co-curricular and Extra-curricular activities
The students are encouraged to participate in the various co-curricular activities within and outside the campus. There are seminars and workshops conducted by invited guests for different curricular subjects.
The students participate in zonal and national level NASA convention every year. The also show enthusiasm to participate in 'VERVE' and other inter-collegiate competitions, cultural events and matches.
Every year study tours are organized in which, students visit places of architectural importance with teachers' assistance.
We have covered Rajasthan, Delhi- Agra, Chandigad, Ahemadabad, Pondecherry, Auro-ville and Karnataka till date thereby exposing students to the live experience of historical as well as contemporary architecture. Field visits and site visits along with Lab test demonstrations under the guidance of teachers are also organized regularly by the college.
The college students have participated and won numerous architectural design competitions organized by different organizations, University of Pune, etc.
Hostel: Hostel accommodation for both girls and boys is available in the separate well buildings in the campus itself. All the rooms are provided wit adequate amenities as well as Internet connectivity points. The students interested in the admission to hostel have to apply to the Haji Gulam Mohammad Azam Education Trust, separately after their admission in the college is confirmed. Hostel accommodation is available as per merit of the candidate.
Gymkhana: With a view to develop the all round personality of the students, the college gives an equal importance to the extra curricular and co-curricular activities. The required facilities are provided to the students and staff too. The Sports Stadium has a 400-meter track along with the facility for cricket, football & long jump, etc.
