About Carmel Polytechnic College Punnapra
Carmel Polytechnic College, affiliated to the Department of Technical Education of Kerala, is located at Punnapra village in Alappuzha District, Kerala. The College is one of the premier training institutions providing polytechnic diploma courses in Kerala. It was established in the year 1958 and is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
There are government-aided as well as self-financing courses available here. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, & Electronics Engineering courses are government-aided courses, whereas, Electronics, Computer and Automobile Engineering are the self-financing courses. - sobha wilson
| Campus & Facilities The campus of Carmel Polytechnic College is located at a distance of around 8 kilometers away from Alappuzha town. The college has all the facilities required to become an effective teaching institute. It has a well-set and computerized library along with a reading room, with a great collection of books along with various national and international journals for the students. The management of the library is taken care of by the librarian.
The college offers a residential facility for which it has 2 hostels, one for boys and another for girls. These hostels are having all the basic facilities required for our day-to-day life and the management is taken care of by the wardens of the respective hostels. A canteen named Cool Bay on the campus offers healthy and hygienic food to the students and staff, that too at a very reasonable price.
Activities Apart from academics, the college focuses on many extracurricular activities with an aim to develop its students as all-rounders. There is an N.C.C. unit and these students participate in the same on a voluntary basis. It helps in imposing various positive qualities in students like self-confidence, leadership quality, discipline, etc. N.S.S. or National Social Service are also activities in the college that conducts different programs like orientation courses, camping, educational programs, personality development programs, etc, on regular basis. The students are allowed to participate in the same as per their interests. There is a separate Physical Education Department that supports the physical growth of students.
Apart from this, the college has a Chavara Cell that helps the students in their placements and offers proper counseling and guidance whenever it is needed. It also conducts seminars, creates bonds between employers and students, and conducts campus interviews at the end of the sessions.
A Continuing Education Cell (C.E.C.) offers various skill-based programs required for a better career and gives students a Certificate, Diploma, or degree in the particular course after completion as an indication of acquired skills.
To have regular interaction with the parents, the college has an active Parent-teacher Association in which the parents are allowed to put their suggestions forward. Parents are allowed to visit the campus to witness various activities after getting permission from the authorities.
Admissions The admissions are offered as per the rules given by the Director of Technical Education, Government of Kerala. Interested candidates can apply online here. The application fee needs to be paid at the time of application. It can be paid to The Federal Bank and UPI transactions can also be done for the same. Please note that only certain apps are allowed for this option like LOTZA, Google Pay, PhonePe, etc.
