About J.D.B. Govt. Girls College
J.D.B. Govt Girls College came in existence as a UG college in the year 1958 in Kota, Rajasthan. Before that, it was an Inter-College (up to class XII). The name of the college is in honour of Social Reformer and activist Padma Vibhushan Smt. Janki Devi Bajaj who had donated land for this UG college. Subsequently, the college became a PG college and also had obtained ‘A' grade certification under NACC in the year 2014.
FacilitiesThere is a well-equipped library in the college having about 80000 books and references for the use of the students. A large number of periodicals, magazines, and journals in various fields are available for the reference of the students. A computer facility is available in the library for students to search and refer the e-content in connection and related to their respective courses. The facility of the internet is available in the library. The students can search the desired content through the computerised indexing system.
Girls hostel is available on the college campus where accommodation for 92 students is made. All the facilities like a common room, gym, TV, dining hall, guest lounge etc are valuable in the hostel. The girls desiring to live in the hostel have to apply for it and their parents have to complete the hostel admission formalities.
One unit of National Service Scheme (NSS) is functional in the college and there are 100 students enrolled in it every year. The students learn the social service methods in this and they go to the adopted village or slums for social work regularly. They undertake many activities like tree plantation, cleanliness drive, women empowerment, water resourcing, basic health camps, generating self employment ideas for the poor people around etc.
For the overall development of the students there are indoor and outdoor sports facilities available in the college campus. The students are encouraged to participate in various sports of their liking and are also motivated to take part in sports competitions.
One unit of National Cadet Corps (NCC) activity is also available in the college in which 18 students are enrolled every year. The enrolled students go under various activities of NCC including annual camps. They can try to achieve ‘B' and ‘C' certificates in NCC activities which are useful and considered preferentially in various Govt services as well as defence services.
For bringing the awareness about the AIDS there is one unit of Red Ribbon functional in the college and there are 100 students registered in it. This unit works in association of Rajasthan State AIDS Control Society. Blood donation camps and AIDS awareness camps are regularly organised under this scheme.
There is one student counselling cell in the college which helps the students in matters related to career guidance, sexual harassment problems, complaints regarding ragging etc.
AdmissionsThe candidates desirous of admissions in UG or PG courses have to visit the Rajasthan Govt website (https://hte.rajasthan.gov.in) and register for admissions and select the course and college of choice. They can go through the detailed current prospectus and rules and regulations for the admission and application process. There are some courses which are under the self finance category and the candidates can find the details about them in the prospectus. The current prospectus is also available in the college website where details of fee structure and other formalities are mentioned. The list of selected candidates for admission based on their merit as per the qualifying examination will be displayed in the college website also. The candidates will have to show their original certificates, mark sheets, and other personal credentials like Aadhar card, proof of residence, TC, character certificate etc at the time of the final admission in the college. - Umesh
