About A.K.K New Law Academy
Set up in 1994 by the Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society (MCES), an educational organization, the A.K.K. New Law Academy is located on a campus that is home to not just this law college but others offering different streams, a primary school, and a research center. The law college has the approval of the Bar Council of India and is affiliated to the prestigious Savitribai Phule Pune University. The friendly atmosphere with a vibrant student and faculty community and an anti-ragging committee in place provide for a good educational experience and there have been high-ranking University toppers from this college. A couple of good initiatives is the remedial coaching provided to A.T.K.T. students and another is facilities for competitive exams to help prepare for the Maharashtra Judicial Services Exam.
A.K.K. New Law Academy campus infrastructure and facilities The WiFi campus where the A.K.K. New Law Academy, Pune is located has incorporated facilities for solid waste management and composting, as well as rainwater harvesting towards maintaining a green campus.
The classrooms of A.K.K. New Law Academy, Pune are smart classrooms equipped with LCD projectors. A dedicated spacious room is utilized for Moot Court sessions and also functions as a conference hall. There is a separate Assembly Hall as well. Students can avail of hostel accommodation on the Azam campus and the college has its own separate canteen offering yummy snacks, including popular chaat dishes, juices, and hot beverages. The V.M. Gany Sports Complex on the common campus has a large outdoor space for sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, etc and a gymnasium indoors. Students can also enjoy a game of chess or carom indoors at the students' club area.
The Skill Development center of the A.K.K. New Law Academy, Pune has a language lab and computers with a capacity for 60 students. It imparts training in soft skills, communication skills, and computer skills. Guest lectures are held here from time to time through the video conferencing facility of the center. There is also a separate Research and Publication Centre for Ph.D. scholars.
The library is the focal point of legal education for the law students of A.K.K. New Law Academy, Pune and they can access it with a membership card after depositing a refundable fee of Rs.500/-. All aspects of legal education are to be found in the vast number of books including unique aspects like biotechnology law and cyber law. There are dictionaries, too, that explain legal terms, legal periodicals, and legal reports of civil, criminal, and other cases. The college library also avails of subscriptions to international legal journals. There is a separate reading room in the library and a dedicated space for an e-library in which students can access both subscribed and open resources through 25 computers. The non-legal section of the library has books of other subjects, such as history, sociology, English, etc. A photocopy and printout facility of reading material is available for students at a nominal charge.
The Career Guidance and Counseling Cell of A.K.K. New Law Academy, Pune provides apt guidance not just for career opportunities and job prospects that are available. The faculty of this Cell also provides an understanding of the specific kind of career path that should be taken up as per a student's individual aptitude and competency. To this end, guest lectures and workshops are scheduled to give students an idea of a career in a particular sector. Lectures by visiting faculty on innovative thinking, leadership skills, and the like are of great help for the student to develop the confidence to get ahead.
