About National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli
The National Institute of Technology Trichy is one of the 30 National Institutes of Technology established by the Government of India. Today, NITT is an autonomous co-educational technological institute, with 10 undergraduate and 22 graduate programs. Undergraduate programs lead to B.Tech degrees, while the graduate students and postgraduate students earn M.Tech, M.S. (by Research) and Ph. D degrees respectively. NITT also has a management and architecture school. NITT is located in Thuvakudi on the Trichy-Tanjore national highway, 17 km from Trichy Railway Junction.
The National Institute of Technology Tiruchirapalli is rated alongside the best of the IITs. It has a solid record of almost one hundred placements for its computer science students.
However, what is relatively unknown is the widest range of specializations in the M.Tech course. From informed sources, it has been reported that a massive percentage of graduates and post-graduates go abroad for higher studies. Hence, the pool of registered graduates for placement is not the absolute number of people who graduate in any discipline.
The M.Tech degrees in Industrial Metallurgy, Geotechnical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Power Systems, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and Management, among others, stand out for special mention, as there is always a big demand for professionals in these fields.
NIT Tiruchirapalli is reported to be the number one rated NIT amongst all NITs in India. It is also one of the oldest NITs in India.
