About Mannaniya College of Arts and Science
Mannaniya College of Arts and Science, an aided degree college, started functioning from 1995-96 at Pangode, a village in Thiruvananthapuram district. The management of the College, "Jamia Mannaniya Islamia Charitable Society'', is an organization of Muslim Religious Scholars from South Kerala.
Mannaniya College of Arts and Science was started in the year 1995 in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala. It is affiliated to the University of Kerala and is accredited by NAAC with ‘B+' grade recently. The college has also achieved minority status in 2010 by the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI). When the college we started, it was offering only three courses; those are B.A. in Islamic History, B.Com in Co-operation and B.Sc. in Polymer Chemistry. Gradually other courses were introduced. B.Com in travel and tourism was started in 1999 and then M.Com was introduced in 2013.
Infrastructure The rich infrastructure of the college includes separate science labs for chemistry, physics, computers and biology. These labs are properly designed and equipped with all the required instruments, computers, etc. The Physics lab is having a darkroom facility to conduct the optics-related experiments.
The computer facility of the college is having 30 computers which are all having internet facilities and connected with each other. This center is used to train both teachers as well as students about internet usage, IT infrastructure and its optimum utilization.
The seminar or conference hall is on the first floor of the college building. It is having around 300 seats and is equipped with advanced audio-visual instruments required for presentations. A separate Auditorium with 600 sitting capacity on the campus is mostly used for conducting various academic sessions, lectures and other co-curricular activities.
A big playground with facilities for football, volleyball, cricket, badminton, etc is available for the students inside the campus. The Athletics track, discuss throw circle, long jump pit, Javelin throw sector and shot/hammer circle are the sports facilities offered.
Apart from the above-mentioned infrastructure, the college also has a food court with free midday meal facility for the needy students, a biogas plant, a cooperative store, a common room and a gymnasium facility. The gymnasium is free for all and is equipped with most of the regular equipment. The water purifier, prayer room, sanitary napkin vending machine and rainwater harvesting system add more advantages to the college.
Library The college library is big, occupying an area of more than 2000 square feet. It is having a great collection of more than 10000 books, periodicals, journals, etc. It is having sections for books under Scholar Support Programme and Walk with a Scholar Programme. It also offers e-books and e-journals through the subscription of NLIST from INFLIBNET. The connect-internet center with many computers and Wi-Fi facilities offers access the National Digital Library of India for students and teachers. - Padmini
