Motto : Try, Trust and Triumph
Dimapur College was started at the initiative of some prominent citizens of the town to provide an opportunity for higher studies to those who could not afford to go outside Dimapur/ Nagaland. It was established in the year 1966 and was affiliated to Guwahati University, Guwahati, upto Degree Pass Course in Arts and Commerce. Mr. N. Kithan, the then Education Minister of Nagaland, inaugurated it on 25th of July 1966. The College was under the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Shillong, from 1974 to 1993. It is now affiliated to the Nagaland University, which was established in July 1994. The College was taken over by the Government of Nagaland on 1st of February 1989 and named as Dimapur Govt. Infrastructure Presently, the College is having only one readymade huge Auditorium type building which have been partitioned into many rooms. All classes are conducted from that building. Some of the rooms are also used for Teachers, Vice-Principal, Ministerial staff and IGNOU. The Principal's office building is constructed separately.
College Land : The land where the present College is located was acquired while the College was initially being run as a private College. What the College requires now is a master plan of the available vacant land and to start construction works thereon.
IGNOU Centre : A part/branch of the Indira Gandhi National Open University has been functioning in the Colleges for the past few years after obtaining due permission from the Higher Education Department, GON, to open the Centre. Under this scheme, correspondence courses are offered to the clients, and Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates are awarded to the candidates by the IGNOU.
