About Aska Science College
Aska Science College was established in the year 1968 in Ganjam district in the state of Odisha. With the support of the local sugarcane producers contribution it started functioning in a shared building and later in the year 1976 it was shifted to the Govt Technical High School building at Aska and finally in the present building in Aska, Kotinada. It is an aided school under the control of the Director of Higher Education. The college has got ‘B' accreditation from NACC and during 2019-2020 was also selected for aid by the world bank. It offers UG courses in Science, Arts and commerce with honours in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany Zoology, Political Science, History, Economics, Oriya, English, Hindi and Commerce.
FacilitiesThe college is having a full fledged library. There are about 42,500 number of books available for the use of students and staff. Books can be found through the online application known as e-Granthalaya which is developed by NIC (National Informatics Centre), Govt of India. The books are issued temporarily and are to be returned in stipulated time. There is one lending library also in the library from where the students can get the books issued for whole the year by paying one-fifth cost of the book. This lending library is very popular with the students.
There is one boys hostel having accommodation only for 30 students and it is allotted based on the merit as well as the poor financial condition of the student.
Sports facilities are available in the college and the students are encouraged to participate in them and also take part in the sports meet and competitions.
A committee of teachers is formed to guide the students for career and job counselling. They help the students in this regard and make them aware regarding the competitive environment in the industry.
Financial assistance and scholarships are provided to the eligible and meritorious students. Some of these are - Financial aid from Central and State Government, National Scholarship, Scholarship for Children of freedom fighters, National Talent Scholarship, Govt of India Hindi Scholarship, Senior college merit scholarship, Post-Matric scholarship for SC/ST students from TRW Department, Scholarship for Teacher's children, Scholarship for sons and daughters of workers of iron-ore mines of Orissa, Youth Red Cross Scholarship, Financial aid given by the College, Free studentship to the extent of 12.5% of total student strength, and aid from Social Service Guild and Students' Aid Fund.
AdmissionsThe eligible candidates can apply for admission to the desired courses in this college. College is having admission committee for selecting the students for admission to the various courses in different streams. - Umesh
