About Chandradhari Mithila College
C.M College, Darbhanga is one one of the best colleges in Darbhanga, Bihar. This college provides both Arts and Commerce faculties.
Chandradhari Mithila Mahavidyalaya, Darbhanga (Bihar) was started in 1938 and is among the very old colleges in the country. It was started as a private college with the name “Mithila College". The college campus is named “Gangadhar Niketan" to honour the efforts and dedication of Pandit Gangadhar Mishra in building this college. The current campus was built on the land of Paliram Garden in 1955.
The college got affiliated to Bihar University in 1952 and the post-graduate teaching was started in 1962. In 1974, the college got split into 2 branches namely C.M. College for Arts and Commerce and C.M. Science College. The college is accredited with B++ rating by NAAC.
Campus details The whole campus is divided into two by the river Bagmati. One part which is the Eastern part of the campus, includes the main college building, academic departments, common rooms for boys and girls, N.S.S. department, N.C.C. department, IGNOU office, Principal's office, PNB Branch, the BCA center, swimming pool and the post office. The Western part of the campus has hostels, teacher's quarters, principal's residence, one women's hostel and sports ground.
FacilitiesThe campus has a huge auditorium with a capacity of around 2500 students and is named as “Karpoori-Lalit Bhawan" in the memory of late Karpoori Thakur and Lalit Narayan Mishra.
The campus library has a rich collection of more than 1 lakh books. It is also having a spacious and furnished reading room.
It also has a Remedial Coaching Program sponsored by U.G.C. which is basically dedicated to economically poor students. The IGNOU Centre is having more than 1500 students and offers many science, arts and commerce based courses. Apart from these, various vocational courses are also available in fields like creative writing and translation, journalism, foreign trade, library and information science, hospitality and catering and E-commerce.
The college supports the overall development of students and hence offers adequate facilities for different sports. Students can learn and play Lawn Tennis, Volleyball, Judo, Cricket, Kabaddi, Basketball, Football, Table-tennis and Athletics inside the campus. The sports activities are taken care by the Sports Committee of college.
Apart from the above-mentioned facilities, the college also has some specific cells like anti ragging cell, counselling cell, art of living cell, women's development cell, internal assessment cell, IQAC, etc.
