To say about the RAJALAKSHMI ENGINEERING COLLEGE, there are many good things to say.
First is about faculty- Faculties here in this college are minimum three year experienced, and more recently this college have told lecturers/senior lecturers to complete their phd. and even all the lecturer should have written the GATE. Totally, the faculties here in this college is upto the expectations by any students.
Second is library facilities- The College library is located in a spacious new building of 9000 Sq. ft. The library is open to students and staff members from 7.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. on all working days. The library has a rich collection of 26,800 volumes of text books, reference books, national and international journals in all branches of Engineering, Science, Technology, Management and General Studies and the collection is ever increasing. The books are classified according to Dewey Decimal Classification scheme. Open access system is followed in the library.
The third is hostel- We have separate hostel for boys and girls. The hostel can accommodate more than 600 boys and 200 girls. Single room accommodation is given to the final years and PG students. They are also permitted to use their own computers in their own rooms. The mess is spacious with a dining hall and kitchen. The important feature is that there is separate hostel for first year students alone.
Fourth one is transport- The College runs 52 buses for providing transport facility to students from various places in the city. The number of buses will be increased corresponding to the increase in the intake of students.
Fifth one is internet and wifi- Our college has a dedicated internet lab working 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We give free internet access to our students. We have a 512 kbps Tier-l International Satellite connectivity and also a 64 kbps leased line plus a 64 kbps ISDN line. The internet can be accessed from more than 100 computers. All the departments and the HODs have internet connectivity. we have wifi facility any where inside the college campus.

Rajalakshmi Engineering College was established in the year 1997. Its belong to the Rajalakshmi Educational Trust. Its popularly known as REC. REC offers ten under graduate courses and eight post graduate courses. The campus is situated in Thandalam, Chennai. The administrative office is situated in Kilpauk, Chennai. It is a ISO 9001 : 2000 certifide institution. Its also approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
REC is one of the top engineering college in Tamil nadu. It has many university rank holders. It has a good transport facility and they cover almost all the parts of Chennai. Hostel facilities is also available for the students who are from out of Chennai. It has good lab facility.
The college starts at 8.00 in the morning at ends at 3.00 in the evening. Technical symposium is conducted by all the departments every year. Students are taken to industrial visits to keep them upto date with the industrial knowledge. NSS, sport camps are also conducted.
