About Public College
The Public College, Samana was started in the year 1969 under the guidance and moral support of Sh. S. L. Kapoor (Deputy Commissioner of Patiala). Although it started for Arts stream only and with 109 students, it is now a co-educational college offering higher education in different streams to the students of nearby villages. Currently, it is affiliated to Punjabi University and is accredited with ‘B' Grade by NAAC.
InfrastructureThe College has grown over the years and is currently offering various graduate, postgraduate and vocational short term courses. It has a library with a great collection of magazines, textbooks, reference books, journals, encyclopedias, and newspapers. There is an attached reading hall with a sitting capacity for around 100 people at a time. There is a separate arrangement for the teachers with computers and internet facility for them.
There are separate labs for physics, chemistry and biology. An agriculture lab is also there for the students pursuing agriculture-related courses. To fulfil the current demand for our education, there is a computer lab equipped with the latest computers and software along with internet facility. There is also a music lab for the students pursuing an academic degree in Music (instrumental or vocal).
The college supports the physical growth of the students by offering various sports-related activities. There is a boxing ring, tennis court, squash court, handball court and a basketball court. Cricket ground, running track and baseball grounds are also available. There is a swimming pool as well, a multi-station gym and a trainer to guide the students.
Lastly, to support the girl students from far areas, the college offers hostel accommodation within the campus. - Padmini
