About GRG Polytechnic College
GRG polytechnic college was started in the year 1980 by Sri G.R Govindarajalu and Smt G. Chandrakanthi. It is a Government aided institution approved by AICTE. The main aim of the institution is to provide technical education to the students residing in the rural areas and help them to gain a social productive career. The college is functioning as a co-educational institution from 2006. The college has good infrastructure and experienced faculty members. It is an ISO 9001: 2008 Certified Institution.
Infrastructure The college is located at Kuppepalayam. The campus gives a calm and peaceful environment to the students. The classrooms are spacious and well furnished.
Each and every department has separate well equipped laboratories with modern equipment. The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has VLSI design lab, embedded system lab and Communication Engineering lab. The garment technology has latest machines and equipment for sewing, cutting, embroidery, ironing, packing and testing.
The state of art computer center of the college has modern computers with internet connectivity.
To enhance the communication skills of the students the college has an equipped language laboratory.
The college library is fully automated and has many books, magazines and journals.
The college also has a playground, well-furnished hostel and transport facilities.
The campus has general amenities such as UPS, water supply, canteen and stationery shop.
Academics The college offers 7 diploma courses. Out of which, 5 courses are self-financing courses and 2 courses are aided courses.
Self-financing courses: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering and Garment Technology
Aided Courses: Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Textile Processing
To update the knowledge of the students, each department conducts many ADD-ON courses such as PCB design and fabrication, C programming language, Hand Embroidery and Textile painting, Career guidance, Entrepreneurship development, etc.
Activities The students of the college are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities such as NSS, YRC, Fine arts, Eco-watch club, RRC, Sports and games. The students are given training in yoga and meditation. Special coaching is given for athletes and team players. The students of the college are allowed to participate in the district and state level sports meet. The college students actively participate in the community development programs and awareness programs in the rural areas.
