About Model Engineering College
The Model Engineering College,Thrikkakkara started functioning in 1989 in the premises of Govt.High school, Edappally. In 1994, the construction of the current campus at Thrikkakkara was over and the classes were shifted to it. The campus is situated in a 14 acre land. The college has been selected for financial assistance by World Bank under TEQIP scheme. Currently, MEC has become one of the most sought after institutions among Engineering colleges in Kerala.

Admission to The Model Engineering College
The admission is based on the rank obtained in common entrance examination conducted by Govt. of Kerala. 15% of the total vacancies are reserved under NRI quota. The NRI seats are filled from the separate rank list prepared for NRI candidates.
Facilities
The Model Engineering College Library has a collection of about 16000 books and 60 journals. The college organise Seminars, Debates, Group discussions, Arts & Sports events and other cultural activities. There are separate association for each department which facilitate the technical & academic skills of the students. The NSS working in the campus concentrates on the improvement of the campus, non- formal education, blood donation, nature care etc. The placement cell working in the college conducts Online Technical tests, Mock interviews and group discussions to equip the students to meet the challenges of the industry .The facilities under physical education department include foot ball ground, basket ball ground, table tennis table, badminton court, Volleyball court and health club. The college has college buses which ply from Kadavanthra & Aluva.
