College of Engineering, Poonjar was started in the year 2000 by the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD) under CUSAT (Cochin University of Science And Technology). The college conducts 3 B.Tech courses and 2 M.Tech courses.

Admission
Candidates who have passed Higher secondary examination with a min. of 50% marks for Maths and 50% marks for Maths,Physics & chemistry put together. 85% of the total annual intake is from the Kerala Engineering Entrance examination rank list. Usually, the entrance examination is conducted in April/ May. Lateral entry to the second year B.Tech is possible for diploma holders provided they meet the eligibility criteria defined by Govt. Of Kerala.
Facilities in College of Engineering, Poonjar
College of Engineering, Poonjar houses a fully automated library which can accommodate 200 readers at a time. The library has a collection of more than 5000 volumes of books. The college has separate labs for each department. The Career Guidance and Placement Unit (CGPU) organises personality development programs and courses on Communication English. The PTA of the college helps to maintain a close relationship between the staff & parents of the students. College provides bus service for the commutation of the students.
Location
The college is located in Poonjar, Kottayam district. The place is very close to well known tourist spots and christian pilgrim centres. Since the campus is near to Poonjar- Ettumanoor State Highway, frequent bus services are available.
