|St Dominic's College was established in the year 1965 and since then the management of the college is taken care by St Dominic's Forane Church. It started with an aim to fulfil the education requirement of all people irrespective of community or religion. Apart from academics, it also instils moral, spiritual and ethical values into the students.|
InfrastructureThe college building includes a big library that is automated and has a great collection of books, magazines, journals, newspapers, etc. It also has INFLIBNET and DELNET facilities along with a book bank for students. To enter the library, students need to scan their ID cards and the timings are from 8.00 AM till 6.00 PM on all working days. Students are allowed to borrow books from the library maximum for 14 days.
The computer lab of the college was started with the support from UGC with the purpose to provide computer knowledge and training required in various courses. The college also has a language lab equipped with all the required equipment for proper functioning of language software.
With financial support from UGC, the college has started its health centre having advanced gym facilities. This centre also conducts other fitness programs like yoga, aerobics, etc. It is available for both the students and staff of the college.
Workshop facility is available for the Department of physics and this department is solely responsible for all kinds of repair and maintenance work in the workshop.
A unique herbal garden is also there on the campus which comes under the supervision of the Department of Botany. There are many plants of medicinal value and students learn about these plants, their identification, botanical names and medicinal applications.
ActivitiesApart from academics, the college is also focusing on the physical development of students and hence organizes various sports tournaments for badminton, weight lifting, cricket, cycling, table tennis, basketball, etc.
The college also participates in National Service Scheme or NSS and is having 2 batches with more than 200 students. This activity is completely voluntary in nature and participants get to learn about different projects related to community and social welfare.
There is a women's cell which emphasizes the leadership qualities in women and motivates them by organizing different activities. There are many other cells and groups in the college working in their specific directions like career guidance cell, human resource cell, cell for English communication, the parent-teacher association and many more.
